Supply Chain Operations: Edmonton

This program is available for Alberta residents who are:

  • A Permanent Resident or Citizen of Canada
  • 18 years of age or older
  • Unemployed or working less than 20 hours per week
  • Collecting Employment Insurance, or have collected in the last 5 years
  • Out of post-secondary or equivalent for at least 1 full calendar year
  • Interested in obtaining a full-time career in warehousing, distribution and/or logistics in the supply chain industry
  • Dedicated to 12 weeks of in-class training, to successfully obtain a Supply Chain Warehousing Certificate from the Association of Supply Chain Management (ASCM).
  • Committed to completing a 4-week work experience following in-class training
  • Located in the Edmonton area


If you fit the above requirements and have the desire to learn new skills, gain an ASCM Certificate, learn to operate a forklift and obtain full-time employment in the supply chain industry, this program may be for you!

Courses start three times per year in September, January and April.

The program is 100% government-funded, making it free for qualified applicants.

The Province of Alberta is working in partnership with the Government of Canada to provide employment support programs and services.

Ballad’s Fundamentals of Supply Chain Operations program is a comprehensive 16-week initiative, equipping participants with essential skills for meaningful employment in the ever-evolving supply chain sector.

Program Highlights

Curriculum Overview

  • Focus on inventory, warehouse, and logistics, addressing the core facets of Supply Chain Operations.
  • Soft skills development modules cover career path analysis, resume building, interview preparation, and networking strategies.
  • Workplace safety certifications, including WHMIS, TDG (Transportation of Dangerous Goods), and forklift ticket.
  • Practical work experience: participants undertake  2 to 4 weeks of practical Work Experience with our industry partners, ensuring graduates are job-market-ready.

 

Professional Certifications

  • ASCM Supply Chain Warehousing Certificate.
  • One-year ASCM membership.

 

Program Format

  • 12 weeks in class + 4 weeks of Work Experience = 16 weeks total.

Graduates gain access to Ballad’s extensive employer network, receiving job-search support and coaching for three months post-program completion.

Participate as an Employment Partner in our Integrated Training Programs in Edmonton or Calgary. As an employment partner, you can provide valuable work experience, recruit from our graduate pool, provide guest lectures or facility tours. Here are a few ways you can get involved: 

  • Work Experience: The practicum is an optional part of the course where employers have the opportunity to employ a participant for up to 2-4 weeks probationary period with pre-arranged WCB coverage from Ballad at no cost to the employer. When the practicum is completed the employer has the option to extend an offer of employment at their discretion. 

  • Recruitment: Employer partners get the first opportunity to recruit certified and talented graduates. 

  • Guest Lecturer or Facility Tours: Grow your brand by inspiring and interacting with participants by sharing your industry knowledge, industry insights and career opportunities. Showcase your facilities and operations by providing engaging facility tours.
