Mentoring for Youth & Young Adults: Edmonton

The Mentoring for Youth & Young Adults program provides a welcoming space for youth and young adults to build practical life skills, connect with others, and gain confidence as they navigate adulthood.

Through hands-on workshops, peer connections, and social activities, participants can learn everyday skills, build supportive relationships, and access a space designed to meet them where they are.

Weekly drop-in workshops happen every Friday and are available at no cost to participants. There’s no need to register in advance. Just drop in and take part.

Who is this program for?

This program is for youth and young adults in Alberta who have current or previous involvement with Child Intervention, the Transition to Adulthood Program (TAP), or Advancing Futures.

You may be eligible if you are:

  • 16 to 18 years old and currently involved with Child Intervention, or your involvement ended within the past five years
  • 18 to 30 years old and currently or previously involved with TAP or Advancing Futures

The program is designed to be low-barrier, welcoming, and easy to access.

Looking for a place to learn something useful, meet new people, and get support along the way?

Drop in to our FREE weekly workshops every Friday.

Our workshops are practical, hands-on, and designed to help you feel more confident navigating everyday life and what comes next. Topics include:

  • Housing, renting, lease agreements, and finding a place to live
  • Relationships, safety, and consent
  • Online safety and media literacy
  • Advocacy, rights, and navigating systems
  • Social and emotional well-being
  • Independent living
  • Cooking basics
  • Self-care and hygiene

There is no need to register. Just drop in, take part in the activities that interest you, and come as often as you’d like.

You’ll also have opportunities to take part in larger social events throughout the program, giving you more chances to connect, build community, and have fun.

September 4 Workshop: Sugar & Smudge

Kookum’s House will lead a hands-on Smudge Box workshop, introducing participants to the elements of smudging, traditional medicines, and the meaning and importance behind the practice.
